About Us

Art31 is a Gulbenkian and Kent County Council project in it's pilot stage. It consists of a group of young people aged 14 to 21 and is aimed at creating arts events, programmed, produced and created by young people for young people.

Art31 are inspired by and named after Article 31 which states:
1. Parties recognize the right of the child to rest and leisure, to engage in play and recreational activities appropriate to the age of the child and to participate freely in cultural life and the arts.
2. Parties shall respect and promote the right of the child to participate fully in cultural and artistic life and shall encourage the provision of appropriate and equal opportunities for cultural, artistic, recreational and leisure activity.

We are currently working on our first mini festival in a take over of @Gulbenkian in Canterbury. Working with Wide Eyed Theatre we are producing a series of screenings, performances and workshops for young people aged 11 to 25 this Easter: 4th till 12th April 2013. These are provided by chosen partners from Kent including South East Dance, The Turner Contemporary.
